A wood partnership

Wood is one of the most environmentally friendly building materials found in Norway. It is renewable and has little negative effect on the environment if it comes from sustainably managed forests. However, NTNU researchers believe that Norway is in a risky situation in the global market, because other international players are about to become market leaders in the industrialization of wood as a building material. NTNU researchers believe that there should be a major national investment in this field, or Norway will soon see itself reduced to a pure commodity supplier of wood-based construction.

NTNU researchers have thus established a partnership on the innovative use of wood as a building material. The project is called “Tre Nova,” and will bring together industry players from Norway and from around the world. The goal is to generate increased activity and profitability in the timber industry, from forest to finished buildings.
